Asitha Kottahachchi Kankanamge Don is a Ph.D. Student at RMIT University, Melbourne. He obtained his first degree Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Computer Science from the University of Colombo School of Computing of Sri Lanka and then joined the IT industry. After spending a few years in the industry he got a scholarship to undertake doctoral research at RMIT University.
Research: My research focuses on building trustworthy quantum machine learning systems that can operate effectively in privacy-sensitive and data-constrained environments. In particular, I investigate how hybrid quantum–classical learning can support secure and explainable artificial intelligence without requiring large-scale centralized data collection. My work explores privacy-aware learning frameworks, efficient representation learning methods, and interpretable quantum AI models that are practical for near-term quantum computing systems. Through this research, I aim to contribute toward reliable and scalable quantum-enhanced AI solutions for real-world applications where security, transparency, and responsible use of data are critical.
